Specialty chain DavidsTea has brought in a coffee veteran to run its budding business as it girds for a battle with Starbucks-owned Teavana.

Montreal-based DavidsTea, which sells gourmet flavours in loose leaf and bagged varieties at 127 locations across Canada and the U.S., announced Sylvain Toutant as its new president and chief executive officer on Thursday.
